Biodiversity Net Gain For Farmers

How It Works

Initial Consultation

We start with a no-obligation site visit. Our Land Team, led by Liz Warner, will walk your property with you, understanding your current operations and answering any questions you may have. Our goal here isn't to prescribe random farming initiatives – we're here to find BNG opportunities that best complement your existing practices.

Site Assessment

Our CIEEM-certified ecologists conduct a thorough baseline survey, mapping your land's current biodiversity value using the latest Defra Biodiversity Metric. This 'metric' is essentially the calculator used by anyone wanting to quantify their land's biodiversity for BNG purposes.

Opportunity Identification

We'll present a clear plan of potential BNG units your land could generate depending on different scenarios, along with any other relevant natural capital opportunities like Carbon Credits or Nutrient Neutrality schemes.

Project Design

Working closely with you, we'll develop a bespoke BNG plan that maximises biodiversity value while respecting your operational needs. This might include creating new habitats or enhancing existing ones.

Registration & Legal Setup

We handle all the paperwork, registering your BNG units and setting up the necessary legal agreements. Unlike complex leasing arrangements, our approach keeps you in control of your land. The seller will need to use their own solicitor for final documents.

Unit Marketing & Sale

We leverage our network to connect your BNG units with developers needing to meet their obligations. Our team handles negotiations to ensure you get the best value for your units.

Implementation & Management

Once units are sold, we guide you through the habitat creation or enhancement process. We can also assist with ongoing management and monitoring to ensure your BNG commitments are met.

FAQs

What Fees Are Involved?

We operate on a success-based model, taking a 10% commission on the value of biodiversity units only after they’re successfully sold to developers. We cover the initial costs for the review, ecologist time, and registration fees, aligning our interests with yours and minimising your risk

How Long Does The Process Take?

Our process typically takes 3-5 months from initial consultation to unit sale, however, this can vary depending on the efficiency and resources of your Local Planning Authority (LPA).
